The challenge

A Program That Had to Fit an Unusual Business

After culinary school and service in the US Army as a Food Service Specialist, Pablo and his wife founded Cyber Yogurt in El Monte, California, in 2009: a frozen yogurt shop that doubled as an internet café for the community.

Pablo wanted a program that would collect customer information and send promotions, but the criteria went further: it had to build his own brand, stay affordable and flexible, make communication easy, and help reduce the shop's carbon footprint.

The solution

Branded to the Business, Not the Vendor

The program is branded to Cyber Yogurt throughout, from the in-store tablet to the email newsletters, rather than carrying another company's logo in the shop.

Pablo also put the Instant Win feature, a raffle that runs whenever a customer checks in on the tablet, to work around holidays.

The campaigns

Campaigns Shaped to the Shop

Weather, holidays, quiet weeks and a simple question about today’s flavors all get their own message, sent from the same platform that runs the counter.

Rainy daysDouble points when the forecast turns, which is how a slow afternoon becomes a busy one.
A Halloween Instant Win prize on the in-store tablet
Instant WinA raffle that runs when a customer checks in, dressed up for whichever holiday is on.

Win-backsA $5 off note to customers who have not been in lately, which brought 750 of them back.

Inside the program

The Shop’s Own Brand, on Every Screen

The tablet on the counter, the app, the key tag and the emails all carry Cyber Yogurt’s branding rather than a loyalty company’s, which was the whole point for Pablo.

Digital tags and digital receipts also took paper out of the shop, one of the criteria he set when choosing a platform.

On building his own brand
“Unlike other reward programs in the market, TapMango helped us create a name brand.”

Cyber Yogurt is a reminder that the best programs are shaped to the business, down to what the weather is doing.
