Humans of TapMango: Salik

This week we interviewed our Development Team Lead Salik Kabir. With real Wizard of Oz vibes, Salik is the guy behind the curtain making sure TapMango’s product is always ready to serve. Let’s dive behind the curtain and see what makes this wiz tick!

What is your position at TapMango? How has it evolved since you started?

I started working as a Software Developer at TapMango two years ago. After gaining in-depth knowledge of the system, developing new features and training junior developers I have now transitioned to Software Developer, Team Lead.

What are some aspects of your role that you really enjoy?

I love the fact that I get to develop features that immediately have a major impact on numerous businesses across various industries.
Furthermore, I get to work with very talented people that not only challenge myself but also help the team accomplish our goals.
There is never a dull moment working at TapMango!

Since we all work from home now, can you describe your WFH desk situation?

It’s pretty standard, I have my Laptop, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse. However, I do use an exercise ball as my chair to keep a better posture!

What do you do in your spare time? Learn any new skills during quarantine?

I like to play sports, watch movies in the theatres and try out new restaurants! During quarantine, I have started to read more books and I enjoy going for a walk after work.

What is something your work colleagues don’t know about you?

One thing they probably don’t know about me is that I am very competitive when it comes to sports. Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, you name it, I am ready to play!

What is one piece of advice you would tell 8 year old you? (on career pursuit, life, laugher and love)

I would tell 8 year old Salik to stay focused and not to overthink things. At the end, “What really counts are good endings, not flawed beginnings” – Ibn Taymiyyah

And last but not least, for all of us in quarantine what are your top 3 recommendations for binge worthy shows, book series, or movies?

Movie: Blue Streak – Always cheers me up, Martin Lawrence is brilliant!
TV Show: How to Get Away with Murder – It plays with your emotions like no other show. Shonda Rhimes, knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Book: A Thousand Splendid Suns / The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini’s writing is exceptional. Not only will you visualize but also feel what the characters are going through.

Thanks for the words of wisdom! It’s been a blast chatting with you Salik and we look forward to seeing all the incredible things you will accomplish in Development at TapMango!
